Description: Let's talk about Life. Join us for information about HIV/viral hepatitis and overdose prevention efforts among people who inject drugs, one of the most stigmatized, marginalized, and underserved communities in Colorado. Remember, harm reduction isn't just for people who use drugs ... there is one positive thing that pharmacists can do today for a healthier and safer community.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply harm reduction principles when working with people who inject drugs amid an overdose epidemic. 
  • Identify syringe access programs and access to sterile syringes as a viable method to reduce HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatis C transmission
  • Describe naloxone as an evidence-based public health intervention proven to save lives.
  • Demonstrate proactive actions to better serve people who use drugs in their communities.

Continuing Education

The University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (CPE). This activity has been accredited for 1.0 contact hours of knowledge-based pharmacy and pharmacy technician continuing education. To receive CPE, participants must create a profile on with their NABP eProfile ID number and birthdate, and complete the program evaluations by December 31, 2019. CE credit will be uploaded to CPE once evaluations are completed.
