We realize that everyone could not make it to the Annual Meeting. The nice thing about virtual is it’s flexibility!  We are pleased to be able to offer you up to 2.8 hours of CE from our recent 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting. You can select ala carte, as each CE is offered individually. We hope you will take advantage! The CEs can be done anytime, anywhere. The details of the speakers, topics and pricing is found below.

Heart Failure Therapeutic Updates

Weighing In: DOAC Use in Obesity

Session Description: The use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) has historically been avoided in obese patients due to lack of clinical data regarding safety and efficacy in this patient population. However, contemporary data suggests that DOACs may be used safely in certain obese patients. This presentation will highlight the available evidence regarding DOAC use in obesity to assist clinicians in evaluating the risks and benefits.

IGNITE! Session: Knowing When to Call it Quits: Swapping P2Y12 Inhibitors

Session Description: P2Y12 inhibitors, including clopidogrel, prasugrel, and ticagrelor, are all commonly prescribed, high-risk medications. Pharmacists and prescribers often find themselves with the need to transition patients from one medication in this class to another for a variety of reasons (costs, insurance, patient specific features, thrombotic or bleeding events, etc.). Doing so safely requires a clear understanding of the disease state being treated, as well as the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of these medications. This short session will provide guidance to pharmacists on how best to manage these scenarios, and navigate them safely.
